Abstract: THE ROLE OF FORENSIC AUDITS ON WHISTLEBLOWER INVESTIGATIONS
This study explores the role of forensic audits on whistleblower investigations, with objectives to understand their contribution to uncovering fraud, assessing their impact on legal outcomes, and evaluating their role in protecting whistleblowers. A survey was conducted with 330 respondents from Lagos, including forensic auditors and whistleblowing professionals, selected using Taro Yamane's formula. The survey instrument achieved a reliability coefficient score of 0.89. The findings indicate that forensic audits significantly contribute to uncovering fraud and improving legal outcomes by providing robust evidence, while also playing a crucial role in protecting whistleblowers from retaliation. The study recommends enhancing the integration of forensic audits in whistleblower investigations and providing legal protections for whistleblowers.
